What is the best option for me?

Choosing the right option for you can be a challenge! Check out our Concrete Finish Selection Guide. This will help you to see the pros and cons to each finish. Or, phone one of the friendly Mod Concrete team today and discuss the best option for you.

Is decorative concrete a good choice if I have animals? Will it stain?

Decorative concrete (exposed or honed) is a great option for a pet-lover! Sealed concrete finishes are easy to clean and maintain with a quick broom, high pressure hose, or mop. They are a hard-wearing and durable surface and a popular choice for those with furry friends.

Do you charge for quotes?

Nope! We do not charge for quotes. Simply contact us today by phone, email or socials and we will arrange a time for our Lead Concreter to visit your site!

Do you have a minimum area that you pour?

Yes we do. We have a minimum project size of 60m2. This ensures we can effectively manage our site costs and maintain the high-quality service you expect from us. While it might seem restrictive, it allows us to deliver our best work efficiently.

When do you expect payment?

Great question! Our payment schedule is:

  • 5% deposit to secure your booking date.

  • 30% the week prior to your pour day.

  • 60% is due the morning of the pour.

  • 5% this remaining amount is due once we have are done and dusted!

The Concrete Process

Can I walk on my concrete once it has been poured?

Yes, but you will need to give it about 24-48 hours (depending on the weather) before it is dry enough to walk on. It will take longer before the concrete is fully cured and can take heavier loads like cars.

How long does it take for concrete to fully cure?

While you will be able to walk on it after a day or so, all concrete will take 28 days to completely cure and reach its required structural integrity. This means that in the first 28 days we do not recommend driving your car on new concrete until it has had time to reach its full structural integrity.

Why does it take so long?

The basic answer? That is just how concrete works! The chemical reaction of curing takes time. The curing process is usually mostly complete after 28 days. However, the concrete will continue to harden for a significant amount later.

Can I walk on my concrete on the days between acid washing and sealing?

It is imperative to not track mud or dirt on your freshly laid concrete! This is especially important the hours between acid washing and sealing. If dirt is tracked on the area during this gap, we will need to acid wash the area again (at the client’s expense).

How long after sealing can I walk on my concrete?

We recommend giving a full 24 hours for the sealer to fully cure and avoid any marks or prints. Within a few hours the product should be dry enough to walk on, but you will need to be mindful not to walk any dirt or dust onto the area as it may stick. For access areas (ie-front doors) some people will remove their shoes in these first 24 hours if they need to walk on this area.

Pool Stuff

Will my pool be affected?

Even though we take extra care when working around pools, the reality is that you  will need to arrange for a professional pool cleaner to remove any slurry following the concrete pour and honing process to prevent staining. We can recommend professional pool cleaners that are reliable. Please get in touch!

How long does my pool need to be in place before installing a pool surround?

Any pool installation must be completed no less than 4 weeks prior to the concrete pour to allow adequate time for settlement.

Care & Maintenance of Decorative Concrete

How often do I have to seal my concrete?

We recommend an application of sealer 12 months after you concrete has been installed. After this we recommend high pressuring washing an sealing every 2 years to keep your concrete looking fabulous!
